FAQ
What You Need to Know
I hope I have already answered all your questions. If there are still some points that need further clarification, check out the list of the most common questions I receive below. Do let me know if you still require more information.
What are your interactions with medical staff like?
My role is to support the birthing person and their family, not to give medical advice or preform medical procedures. My interactions with medical staff are respectful and professional. I can work to help empower my client to speak for themselves to providers but I do not speak for them. I can share basic knowledge I have of interventions and medical procedures but I do not make medical decisions for my client or get in the way of their relationship with a provider.
How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?
I am there to support both of you during pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond. My role does not interfere with your partner's but rather helps facilitate deeper connection and support for everyone present. I can help you partner learn massage, counter pressure, positioning, and other help comfort measure techniques. I am also present to allow you partner to get the rest they need, tend to other children, pets, etc.
Do you perform any physical examinations?
I am a non-medical support person. I can share information on medical procedures but I do not preform any medical or physical examinations.
